In a powerful collaboration aimed at transforming lives, you’ll be excited to hear that South Bakels is partnering with the Johannesburg Culinary & Pastry School and the Westbury Youth Centre. Together, we are sponsoring a life-changing scholarship for a three-year Professional Chef Qualification, empowering the youth of Westbury.

South Bakels is extending support to this scholarship initiative, reinforcing its commitment to making a positive impact on the community. Nathanea Davids, a remarkable individual chosen from a pool of 200 applicants with the assistance of the Westbury Youth Centre (MASHUP), founded by Reginald Botha, has been awarded the scholarship. MASHUP plays a pivotal role in nurturing and empowering Westbury’s youth.

“The partnership between South Bakels, the Johannesburg Culinary & Pastry School, and the Westbury Youth Centre is a testament to the transformative power of collaboration,” says Kelvin Joel, co-owner of the Johannesburg Culinary & Pastry School. “By combining our strengths, we aim to provide education and instill a sense of purpose and opportunity in the lives of Westbury’s youth.”

In addition to South Bakels’ sponsorship, the Johannesburg Culinary & Pastry School is doubling the impact by offering an additional scholarship for a three-year Professional Chef Qualification. This collective effort underscores South Bakels’ commitment to creating a brighter future for talented individuals within the Westbury community.

“We, at South Bakels, are privileged to witness this amazing initiative that strives to empower the youth of tomorrow. The efforts made at the Westbury Youth Centre are giving the youth a fresh start,” says Nobuzwe Mbotoli, South Bakels HR department. “We believe that by taking the lead, you can make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of aspiring chefs in Westbury.”

The joint commitment of South Bakels, the Johannesburg Culinary & Pastry School, and the Westbury Youth Centre, demonstrates the profound impact that can be achieved when organisations unite for a common cause. The scholarship program is not just about education; it’s a beacon of hope and opportunity for the youth of Westbury.
